A tense season

This is a tense season for leaves.  Green remains, but one anticipates its quick dissipation.  Laminas in this season look worn, and they are spotted or fringed by yellow.  The worst bear hard brown cankers as if lamina had given up its defense against infection and allowed bacteria or virus to establish themselves in the final days of photosynthesis.
